The Aprilia Tuono is Aprilia's answer to the big powerful naked market and is available in two models (post 2004) - the Tuono 1000 Factory and the Tuono 1000R.

No wind protection and similar power to a superbike (it used the motor from the RSV 1000 Mille sportbike) produces a bike that can't help but wheely. It's full of grunt, loves to play and the higher model comes with nice extras like Ohlins suspension.

The pre-2004 models are brilliant fun motorcycles and can be had for a real bargain on the used market. The later R and Factory versions are a little more well specced but also cost that little bit more. Either way, if you have the cash spare and are considering a super-naked then the Tuono deserves to be on your short list.

Comparison bikes include the Honda CB1300, Suxuki SV1000 and the Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer.

Advantages: Pure madness, responsive, great front brakes.

Disadvantages: Needs more TLC than some of the competitor models, strong styling not to everyones tastes, weak back brake.
