Bike Profile
The BMW F650CS is an enduro/off road bike that is made for both beginning and experienced riders who like to ride on tarmac, gravel roads and sand. It is a smaller bike, which makes it great for the shorter riders. This is the perfect bike for a short person who is not into cruisers. There is a taller version for the taller person. The liquid-cooled engine is 39.79 (652 ccm) cubic inches and provides 50 horsepower at 5500 rpm. The torque output is 46 foot pounds at 5500 rpm. It is a single cylinder four-stroke engine and is great on gas. It is fed by electronic fuel injection and backed up by a five-speed transmission. The older models have a chain drive, the newer a toothed belt.
The front suspension uses a 41 mm telescopic fork and the rear uses a swingarm. Both brakes use a single disc – the front has an 11.8-inch disc and the rear has a 9.4-inch disc. The suspension is comfortable enough to ride some distance and the single disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power for this 386-pound bike.
The BMW F650CS’s toothed belt drive makes the bike as responsive as if it had a shaft drive, and the belt doesn’t stretch as much as a chain – and doesn’t need oil. It comes with an optional luggage package – it is soft luggage and it has a tail bag, seat bag and a tank bag.
The seat height is 30.7 inches, and if you have the adjustable model, this is the lowest setting. The fuel tank holds 4.57 gallons – enough to get you from here to there without making excessive stops.
Comparison bikes are the 2005 Suzuki DR 650 SE, 2005 Yamaha WR 450 F, 2005 Kawasaki KLR 650 and the 2005 Husqvarna TE 610 e.
