The BMW R1150GS, like the R1100GS, is a powerful touring and adventure motorcycle with strong performance.

It is geared for the rider who likes sport and adventure. It is a barebones bike, but additional accessories include saddlebags with protectors, headlight switch, top case and valve cover protectors. Aftermarket accessories include Hyper-lites, a Givi extra tall windshield and PIAA auxiliary lights.

The R1150GS’s oil/air cooled engine has five more horsepower than the R1100GS, bringing it up to 85 horsepower at 6750 rpm, and a boost in the torque – up to 71 foot pounds at 5250 rpm. All that power is transferred to the blacktop via a six-speed transmission.

The front uses BMW’s telelever suspension, and the rear uses the paralever suspension, giving this bike its superb handling capabilities. The front brakes use two four-piston calipers on dual 12-inch foating rotors. The rear brakes provide their stopping power via a single four-piston caliper grabbing a single 10.9-inch fixed rotor. The system has ABS, giving you more – and better-controlled - stopping power.

The thick saddle is adjustable – from 33.1 inches to 33.8 inches - for the short-legged people out there who like to ride. The handgrips are heated, giving you comfort for cold-weather riding.

The large 5.8-gallon fuel tank allows for an uninterrupted trip – it also has a one-gallon reserve. The single key lock system for the ignition, fuel cap, steering and seat storage means less keys to worry about, and no fumbling for the right key. Other goodies on this bike include a sump protection plate and a full protection front fender.
