Bike Profile
The BMW R1200RT is for the serious rider – a rider who wants performance and to be able to tour long distance at the same time. It comes with huge storage (33 liters/7 ½ gallons) for those long trips, and options include heated grips and seats, cruise control and a premium sound system. It also carries 25 liters (5.678 gallons) of fuel. The air/oil cooled Boxter engine’s four valves per cylinder gives up to 110hp and 85 foot pounds of torque, depending on the year.
The front suspension is BMW’s Telelever system and the rear suspension is BMW’s Paralever system – it all rides on a three-part frame of cast aluminum and tubular steel.
The front brakes sport 4-piston calipers and 12.6-inch dual floating rotors to help stop all the performance sitting between your legs. The rear brakes sport 2-piston calipers and a 10.4-inch single fixed rotor, which is more than enough for the rear brakes.
The BMW R1200RT’s styling is already hot, but used bike prices wil vary and will better suit your own needs according to the optional extras that have been added to the motorcycle:
- Silver Engine Spoiler
- Black Engine Spoiler
- Lowered seat
- Tire Pressure Monitoring
- ASC
- Heated hand grips
- On board computer (which includes an oil level warning)
- White turn indicator
- Chrome exhaust pipe
- ESA (BMW’s Electronic Suspension Adjustment)
- Heated seat
- Heated hand grips
- Cruise control
- Radio
- Anti-theft alarm
It has clean lines and the body faring is divided into separate areas – each area sits on its own level, giving the bike a light look. Its dual headlamps have sharp contours, giving the R1200RT its own distinctive look. The faring, even though designed to look sporty, still gives the rider comfort and protection.
