The BMW R65 is a touring motorcycle that is pretty lightweight compared to other Beemers.

It is geared for the rider who likes to ride for fun, needs a cheap way to commute to work.

Though it is a touring bike, and this bike can do it, it’s not the best bike to ride across the country. This bike does have a vibration that kicks in at about 4,500 rpm, but once you get over 5,000 rpm, the vibration disappears.

The engine is the classic boxer engine, and it carries a low center of gravity. This, combined with a shorter wheel-base gives this bike quick steering, making it very maneuverable. The 650cc engine leaves something to be desired in the power band as far as horsepower, having only 48 horsepower at 7,250rpm, but does have some compensation in torque.

The brakes provide stopping power with a single front disc brake and a rear drum brake. The transmission is a five-speed, putting power to the rear wheel via a cardan shaft drive.

The R65’s luggage is strong and spacious. The fuel tank holds a generous 5.81 gallons (22 litres). Including oil and gas, this bike weighs in at only 452 pounds (205 kg). Its top speed is 110.6 miles per hour.
