The Ducati Sport Touring family has never held the spotlight like their race winning sportbikes or dedicated Monster steet bike series has but the ST line is an extremely competent set of sport tourers which has improved year on year through the line from the original ST2 up to the latest S4.
They retain some of the characteristics the traditional Ducati race bikes are famed for - superb handling among the most important of these but they also add something which the Ducati 916 and the like don't provide - the ability to cover long distances in relative comfort, a more manageable engine for the street environment and a better real-world suspension set up which for the dedicated sport rider may be a little soft but for the purpose the bike was intended is just right.
