People lucky enough to own a piece of history like the Honda CB550 rarely want to part with it. There is a special feeling about cruising down the highway on a vintage bike that makes you puff up with pride.The CB550 has 50 bhp at 8,500 rpm. It is somewhat unforgiving as it doesn't have the best braking and will burst into speed quickly making it less qualified as a beginner's bike. However, biking enthusiasts stand by their CB550s definitely.
They are easy to work on and with good maintenance will last up to 100,000 miles or more. It's not a very responsive bike and there is a lot of shake. It takes corners aggressively; too aggressively for a beginner but very challenging for experienced riders. It has a 5 speed transmission and its 544cc air cooled engine will get you up to 102 miles per hour.
For today's racing it isn't at the top end of speed but it has plenty of power for most riders. If you're up to the challenge of this ride it will provide a lengthy lifetime of fun.
