The Honda CR500 is a mid-sized bike that is a step up from the novice dirt bikes from Honda.

Where it excels in speed and power it lacks a bit in stability so very novice beginners should not attempt to control this speed demon. At low range it is a bit sluggish and can give the impression of being a pussy cat but once you hit mid-range the tiger leaps from the tank—and if you're not careful right out from under you.

It is terrific in the dirt and handles great on tight turns and rough ground. This bike is best for a very aggressive rider who can handle the hyper boost of raw power it can produce suddenly. It has a powerful 500 cc engine which drums up 58 horse power and 48.5 pounds of torque to spin your stomach as it throws itself into any road condition.

Without a doubt this is a truly big cat in the jungle of dirt biking.

Disadvantages: When it gets passed mid-range this bike is a bullet. No that's not a mistake. It is both advantage and disadvantage. If a rider isn't experienced enough, or prepared for the sudden burst of power they can easily be thrown, or at least scared off of the bike. Early models of the CR500 had horrible suspensions and after market dealers made a mint selling new suspension systems for them. Later models were much improved and handled well over most types of ground.
