Bike Profile

Bigger, badder, but not necessarily new the Honda Nighthawk 650 gave more power to the demand for an urban bike that could scream around town and still look like a real 'biker's bike'. The big brother to the 250 the Nighthawk 650 gave more horses and torque to an already good looking and reliable entry level bike. Carrying the last of the line of inline 4 engines the Nighthawk 650 was both an end and a beginning to a new era of street bikes for Honda. The 627 cc power plant gives enough boost to this ride to make it a fun and exciting for bikers of any skill level while beginning riders can manage it easily.

At 450 pounds it is a bit heavy for small riders but the Nighthawk 650 is centered well enough and seated low enough that it handles well for riders of any size. The Nighthawk 650 had one more claim to fame for popularity—adjustable handlebars which gave it even more adaptability for different sized riders. Best of all it performs with reliability so it spends more time on the road instead of in the shop.

Advantages: More power in a great city bike. Good looks. Relatively low maintenance. Adjustable handlebars. Good for any sized rider.

Disadvantages: Battery does not charge at idle which is an adjustment for many bikers to get used to. Cam chain needs adjusting often as it will lose tension quickly.
