The Honda Valkyrie Interstate is an amalgamation of bare bike and super cruiser. It took the best of the bare bike cruiser aura from its kin the Valkyrie Rune and added extras to emulate the big family relative luxury cruiser Goldwing while still managing to hold on to the 'real' bike charm it was built to provide.

Interstate was a designation Honda gave to any of the Goldwing family of which the Valkyrie was a part (although a distant part) that had extra touring packaging included as standard equipment. It still has everything the Valkyrie Rune had such as the 999cc engine and great handling ability. For nostalgic bikers who crave the vintage bikes but relish modern power the Valkyrie Interstate was a welcomed addition to Honda's always reliable line up of cruising bikes.

The Valkyrie Interstate has full flairings and saddlebags for the complete touring comfort. One point of difference between the Valkyrie Interstate, and the massive Goldwings is that even though they share an engine type the Interstate has solid lifters instead of the Goldwing's hydrolics. It also has a more aggressive cam set up and increased performance with a free flowing exhaust system.

Advantages: Retro cool looks and aggressive low down ride with the comfort of a luxury touring bike.

Disadvantages: Can't compete with the ultra luxury of the Goldwing, and as a bare touring bike is somewhat outclassed by other luxury cruising bikes of the same weight class and style such as the Harley Electra Glide. However it is more reliable than the Harley. The bag are a bit hard to access and its stiffest competitor, the Yamaha Venture was considered more flexible and had better storage areas.
