If anyone were to ever pick a bike just for the cool sound of its name Honda's Valkyrie Rune would be it. Thankfully the Valkyrie Rune offered a lot more than just a powerful name. It is a powerful cruiser as well. The Valkyrie line was added to the super famous and popular Goldwing family as a stripped down 'biker's tourer' as the demand for a luxury cruiser that didn't look like a battleship or pretend to be a Cadillac developed on the market.The Valkyrie Rune is really the standard basic early model form of the original Goldwing only with its then modern equivalents of technological advances. It has a stable base that rides with a controlled power with its flat 999cc engine giving up plenty of speed and lots of endurance.
It still has a very quiet ride for such a big and powerful bike thanks to the silencer that most Goldwing's of its time had mounted under the swing arm. Some biker's felt that made for a loss of quality but once a rider takes to a Valkyrie Rune they stop all complaints quickly.
In 2004 Honda unleashed a monster on the market with a limited edition Valkyrie Rune with an enormous 1832cc engine built to blast its way into the retro-hearts of bikers everywhere.
Advantages: Great old-fashioned bare bike feel with the comfort and power of its big brother the Goldwing.
Disadvantages: For luxury touring without the muss and fuss it's hard to discount it. The Valkyrie Rune had a hard time competeing with its big brother however and was discontinued until the limited edition was released.
