In some ways it should come as no surprise that many of the radial engines used in motorcycles have been modified for use in airplanes—these little bikes can really fly. The Honda XR600 is a power house of energy that any motocross demon can love. If you like dragging your knees in the dirt on a turn, popping wheelies in the dust, and flying over ditches and ramps, this is a great bike to do it with.

The XR600 has a 5-speed chain drive transmission that produces plenty of torque in every range. The 591cc engine summons 27 horsepower at 5,800 rpms that thunder along at 110 miles per hour. At 306.4 pounds it is a lot bigger than it looks at first glance. A lot of things about the XR600 are bigger than they look. It has a 37.5 inch seat height so it is obviously not for the small or short rider. Still, at first look it appears to be unintimidating—until you straddle the seat.

It doesn't look like the XR600 can perform the way it does but don't let its calm demeanor standing still fool you. It is a rocket with springs. It has great stability and is very controllable for advanced riders. This is no beginner's bike by any means and can easily jump out from under inexperienced hands.
