The Kawasaki ZZR 600 treads that delicate line between cruiser and sport bike that is so popular with riders who want a comfortable but fast ride. It has a less aggressive seating style making it easier on the back, knees, and wrists than the super sport speed bikes yet is fully capable of producing a very respectable amount of power from its 599cc engine.

It comes by its speed honestly as it is the tamed version of the famous Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R that is a speed demon on two wheels. The abilities of the ZZR 600 pay homage to such power and the beautiful sleek looks of the former as well.

Each year of production from 2005 to the present produced a new color for the ZZR 600 starting with Blue, and progressing through Galaxy Silver, Candy Fire Red as well as Ebony, and Candy Plasma Blue and an Ebony model in 2008. Earlier models in 2005 were lower to the ground with a 30.5 inch (780mm) seat height with later models boosting it up a bit to 32.3 inches (820mm). Depending on your inseam length the later bikes might be a bit difficult to plant on but they all remain in a very manageable range for most people.

On to the power—every self respecting street bike must have the power to make its riders smile and the Kawasaki ZZR 600 has it. It increased along with its height over the few years of production but even the earliest model is capable of a maximum of 98 horsepower (73kW) at 12,000 rpm. Recent 2008 models kick up the dirt with 111 horses (83kW) at an impressive 12,500 rpm. The Kawasaki ZZR 600 is as impressive to ride as it is to look at.

Advantages: Easy riding comfortable and still very powerful sport-touring bike.

Disadvantages: At 377 pounds it is a middleweight sports bike but the height of the later models combined with the heavier weight can make it a little difficult for smaller riders.
