The BMW R1200GS has a wild 105 horses encased in its frame backed by 85 foot pounds torque. This bike is designed for adventure touring, and is geared for serious riders – the type that will ride on cross-country trips. It is also good for riders who just want to have some fun, too or for short jaunts back and forth to work.

The Telelever front suspension and reliable shaft drive gives the serious touring rider a smooth ride, eating up the road like there’s no tomorrow.

This is the bike to have for adventure touring – it has an Enduro ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) and ABS options. The newer BMW R1200GS also comes with BMW’s Automatic Stability Control (ASC), which can be turned off for off-road riding. This is a great bike for the rider who likes touring and riding off-road, as it is capable of doing both.

The reliable BMW powerhouse’s basic platform consists of an air-oil-colloed 1,170cc overhead valve (OHV) four-valve Boxer Twin in a steel tubular frame. The engine redlines at a whopping 8,000rpm, and claims 105 horsepower at 7,500rpm. It all rides on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The rear suspension is the BMW’s Paralever system.

The BMW R1200GS looks lean and mean – it comes with an aluminum fuel tank, and the fuel tank guard is aluminum. The handlebar is conical and has adjustable clamps for aggressive off-road riding, which allows the rider to stand up. The tail lamps and signals are LED, giving brighter, safer rear lighting.
