many of them will also be able to handle the odd track day.
They are built around the principles of real-world performance with grunty
motors but more forgiving suspension, engines, handling and ergonomics than
their fully faired siblings - the sportbike.
They are the jack of all trades and can perform adequately for a Sunday blast,
a little touring or the commute to work.
Taking any one of these uses in isolation then they are out-done by other
models like sportbikes and the big dual-sport motorcycles or dedicated tourers
but as the jack of all trades and a naked or semi-naked appearance which shows
off the hardware they are and will remain an exceptionally popular "type"
of motorcycle.
They can often also be had for a comparative bargain both new and used.
