The Suzuki Marauder 1600 was the first of its line to be a part of the development deal between the big K and big S. Kawasaki and Suzuki in an effort to gain in the marketplace decided to combine their efforts in producing and developing bikes. The Marauder 1600 and the Kawasaki Mean Streak are pretty much the same bike thanks to this deal between the biking superpowers. The main differences between the two are mostly cosmetic. In spite of its name, the Suzuki Marauder 1600 actually comes from Kawasaki and has a 1552cc engine. The suspension is an air adjustable and upside down fork in front. It is a comfortable ride much improved over the earlier Marauder. Suzuki also benefited from its Kawasaki partnership in gaining the headlight that turns off when the engine is started to help with conserving on battery drain, which had been exclusive for Kawasaki bikes.
The Marauder 1600 weighs in at 639.3 pounds (290kg) and gives a comfortable upright seat that is only 27.6 inches off the ground (700 mm). It can be a little too low for very tall riders although it handles heavier riders better than the previous model of Marauder.
Overall, the deal between Kawasaki and Suzuki seems to have paid off as riders love their Suzuki Marauder 1600s. They are thrilled with the improved suspension and handling as well as the looks and power.
Advantages: Improved suspension, great power. Low seat. Low center of gravity for great control.
Disadvantages: A little uncomfortable for very large riders.
