The Yamaha FZ750 is a supersport bike that looks a lot like a cruiser. A nice windshield and heavy fairings along with solid side bags give it a all-purpose look but this bike is no slouch when it comes to sports. It knows which end is up, and most of all it knows how to make that end go fast.

Produced between 1985 and 1991 it is a classic as well as a beauty. For its time it was a serious competitor but even now it can handle itself in nearly any situation. The 749cc liquid cooled engine and six speed transmission is powerful and throws out 110 pounds of torque (81 kw) at 10,500 rpms. It edges along the top line of a middleweight bike at 460 pounds (210 kg) and with a seat height of 31.1 inches (790 mm) it can be a bit difficult for smaller riders. Many smaller riders find it manageable with enough experience, however, because it is a very narrow bike thanks to its alternator being located behind the cylinders rather than behind the crankshaft like many bikes. It is also very stable and controllable for beginners to ride.

The Yamaha FZ750 was an incredibly popular bike in its day and remains a popular choice amongst its loyalists. It is a great addition to any classic collection as well.

Disadvantages: Lots of fairing so if a new rider puts it down it will cost quite a bit to repair. Tall bike can make managing it a little difficult for smaller riders.
